Mercedes Drops Vaneo

According to reports from Germany, Mercedes has decided to drop its Vaneo model.

Based on the A-Class, but with a taller, van-like body, it was roundly condemned when it was introduced in 2002. Critics said that it was a cynical attempt to sell an inferior product at a premium price - our own road test said, "The Vaneo isn't fooling anybody." Certainly Mercedes' recent announcements about re-focussing on product quality suggested there was little place for a model which highlighted their recent problems in this area.

Apparently production will cease this summer, making the Vaneo one of the shortest-lived models of recent times.
